CMJ 2011: What Shows Are You Attending?
CMJ ‘11 starts today, yup, with day parties, which should be all free! You should check Music Slut’s Piano’s party with the likes of Chad Valley, Prussia, Jonquil, We Barbarians, The Forms, The Beets and much more. Also, the Living Room starts Paper Garden Records’s party at 12 with Dad Rocks, Tall Ships, Pree and more. Aaaand Secret Mountains, Snowmine and more will play Spike Hill.

How Hipsters Go To The Movies w/ TV On The Radio?

“Members of Brooklyn’s own TV On The Radio will present the feature film version of their new album Nine Types of Light with a Q&A after the film presentation.
Nine Types Of Light is as much an film as it is an album by TV On The Radio. The movie is meant to be a visual re-imagining of the record, and includes a music video for every song on the album. The band personally asked their friends and the filmmakers they admired to help direct the music videos. Tunde Adebimpe, the director for the full Nine Types Of Light movie, storybooked the music videos together with interviews from local New Yorkers on various topics, including dreams, love, fame and the future.”

Tendência: Hipster Ninjas Atacam no Brooklyn
I heard it from my apt and then my boyfriend called me from outside on the street. He saw it happen.. said the kids were stopping cars and harassing people in them. They turned over all of the garbage cans on the street and then one of the kids grabbed one of the garbage cans and smashed it into the window at the tea house on the corner of N 8th and Bedford. Then they smashed a car window and kept running down the street (toward N 7th). They were screaming, "Take back the night!" which makes no sense – it’s an anti-rape slogan but those protests are nonviolent and totally different.
Essa não é a primeira vez que os hipster ninjas atacam em Williamsburg. Eles vandalizaram uma loja da American Apparel e naquela altura o povo achava que eles tavam protestando contra a América corporativa, porém, esses ninjas tavam gritando Take Back the Night, que é um protesto pacífico contra estupro. Argh, nada mais faz sentido no Brooklyn.
